Mr. Ravi Koneru has been awarded this year’s ‘Award for Community Service’ by UFICA
 
Independence Day of India Mela and Parade was celebrated in Los Angeles, CA in a big way at the Lakewood High School Open Grounds on Saturday, the 9th August 2008.

Thousands of Indians attended the Celebrations with high energy and enthusiasm making the event a super success.  UFICA – United Federation of Indo Americans of California organizes this event every year on the eve of the Indian Independence Day.  Bollywood star Mahima Choudary was a special guest in addition to several other VIPs.
 
Mr. Ravi Koneru of Los Angeles has been awarded this year’s ‘Award for Community Service’ by the Organization recognizing him for his outstanding support and involvement in all the Community events in the area.  His inclination to community service and extending support to all cultural events was highly admired by the Committee.  In a Press note, the committee commended that Ravi is not only a successful businessman but also a humble and unassuming person.  “He is like ‘911’ in the Indian community.  He is dependable, honest and can count on Ravi for any kind of charitable work” they added. 
 
Former President Dr Abdul Kalam recognized his contribution to his fellow citizens and invited him as a national co-coordinator for LEAD INDIA. Ravi is actively involved in SRS (Society for Rural Scholars) Organization, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.  Apart from owning several hotels, and Real Estate holdings, Ravi's CHAKRA Restaurants in Irvine and Beverly Hills are his passion and his way of spreading Indian culinary to Southern California.
 
Indians from almost all the states speaking different languages came over to the venue and enjoyed the festive occasion.  Several stalls were set up at the Venue grounds including Food, live entertainment, Health fair, Arts and Cultural Programs. 
 
The UFICA Committee including Dr Vinod Vineet, Ashok Patnaik, Anil Mahajan, Niraj Agnihotri took an active part and lead the Celebrations with perfect planning and coordination.
