Telugu Association of North Texas (TANTEX) celebrated Sankranthi Sambaralu on Saturday, January 31st, from 3 pm to 7 pm at The Colony High School, The Colony, Texas. Around 1000 members attended this program.
Program Started with American National Anthem followed by classical dance for the invocation of Lord Ganesha, Saraswathi & Lakshmi. From classical to folk dances, the participants entertained the audience with their amazing dances. Not only were their dances, but a comedy skit was also presented at the program. The highlight of the show was the live musical concert performed by “Harivillu” music band. This show was put together by highly talented singers of DFW metroplex and this group includes Ramam Devaraju, Vikram Gandikota, Samba Karnati, Priya, Maitri & Divya as lead singers and Nilesh on guitar, Vincent on keyboard and Venkat Mulukutla on drums. The group showered melodious tunes one after another in a performance which lasted more than an hour. The audience was amazed with the talent that was excited by these singers in this concert.
Adding humor to entertainment MC’s Subhash Nelakanti, Rajeswari Udayagiri and Suresh Manduva conducted the entire program in an interesting way.
The out going president Mrs. Shymala Rumalla introduced the newly elected governing body members, Mr. Sridhar Reddy Korsapati as incoming president, Mr. Chandrasekhar Kanneganti as President elect, Mr. NMS Reddy as Vice President, Mrs. Geeta Dammana as Secretary, Mr.Suresh Manduva as Joint-secretary, Mr. Sesha Rao Boddu as Treasurer, Mr. Subhash Nelakanti as Joint-treasurer and Ananth Mallavarapu,, Pavanraj Nellutla, Rajesh Pillamari, Ramakrishna Korada, Ramanaidu Suryadevara, Srinivas Gunukula, Subbarao Ponnuru, Swaroop Kundur, Venkat Mulukutla and Venkat Reddy Musuku as executive committee members. She also introduced Ravindra K Panditi, Dr.Alla Srinivas Reddy, Satyan Kalyandurg, Ram Yalamanchili and Sridhar Kodela as Board of Trustees.
The new president Mr. Sridhar Korsapati thanked all the members and supporters for their continued support to TANTEX. He said all his committee members were elected through democratic process this year and exited about his team this year. He promised to deliver programs for youth and women this year.
To motivate the Telugu kids of North Texas, TANA brought an American student, Brice, from the University of Texas at Austin, who studied Telugu for 6 months. The student spoke in Telugu to the audience, which inspired many kids to learn Telugu.
The programs were not the only splendid thing, but the food catered by the Our Place Indian Cuisine comprised of a traditional menu also mesmerized the people that attended.
The program concluded with a Vote of thanks from TANTEX Secretary Mrs. Geeta Dammana who thanked all the Grand sponsors, volunteers, participants and the committee members.
