Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who has suddenly been showering a number of sops on Dalits on the occasion of the by-elections to Huzurabad assembly seat, has been facing one serious criticism for several years.
That is, there is not a single Dalit IAS officer in the chief minister’s office till now, which clearly shows his utter disregard for Dalits.
Even recently retired IPS officer Dr R S Praveen Kumar, who joined the Bahujan Samaj Party, pointed out that KCR doesn’t have even a single SC officer in the top posts, because of his utter contempt for the weaker sections.
Now that KCR is projecting himself as a messiah of Dalits of late, he has decided to induct a Dalit officer in the CMO. On Tuesday, he has transferred and given posting to senior IAS officer Rahul Bojja as Secretary to the Chief Minister.
Rahul, son of famour lawyer and Dalit intellectual late Bojja Tarakam, has been the secretary of the Scheduled Castes Development Corporation. He will continue to hold the full additional charge in the department, while being posted in the CMO.
Rahul Bojja will oversee the effective implementation of the Dalit Bandhu scheme, in the capacity of the secretary in the CMO.
The Congress party welcomed Rahul Bojja’s appointment in the CMO, saying at last, a Dalit leader could find a place in KCR’s team. Congress spokesman Dr Dasoju Sravan congratulated Rahul Bojja for getting a posting in Chief Minister Office.
He urged Rahul Boijja to strive for the upliftment of Dalits and downtrodden sections valiantly, instead of just toeing the line of KCR.
