The reports that noted political strategist Prashant Kishor is likely to join the Congress party and steer it to victory in the next elections has led to an interesting debate in the political circles in Telangana.
Reports said Kishor held discussions with top leaders of the Congress including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi on the possibility of working with the party for the Gujarat state elections and 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The reports said Kishor is more interested in joining the Congress rather than working as an election consultant.
“He expressed desire to join the party and reorganize it before going into elections. The party leadership is also seriously considering this offer,” reports said.
If the Congress leadership admits him into the party and entrusts the key responsibilities to him, it would be definitely interesting to see what Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao would do.
KCR has hired Prashant for helping him work out the strategies for the TRS in the next elections, apart from playing a key role in the national politics.
If Prashant becomes a Congress general secretary or vice-president, it will definitely not work out for KCR, since the Congress is his rival in Telangana.
So, Prashant will definitely not help KCR to defeat the Congress; and so, KCR also would not be engaging Prashant, a Congress leader. Either way, KCR will have to dispense with the services of Prashant.
Even if Prashant doesn’t join the Congress but will remain only as a consultant, KCR might not be interested in continuing him, as he would not work against the Congress in Telangana.
