All these days, the family of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had been maintaining silence over the ongoing dispute with Andhra Pradesh over Krishna waters issue.
There was not a single comment openly from KCR or his son K T Rama Rao or daughter Kavitha, though the chief minister made his stand his clear on the projects being built on Krishna river in his official review meetings.
However, the other ministers in the cabinet have made strong comments against Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and his father Y S Rajasekhar Reddy accusing the latter of looting the Telangana waters, obviously under the directions of KCR.
But on Saturday, K T Rama Rao reacted on the Krishna water disputes with Andhra Pradesh. Addressing a meeting at Narayanpet, he said the Telangana government would go to any extent to protect the interests of the south Telangana and irrigating it with Krishna waters.
“We are ready to fight not just with Andhra Pradesh, but even with god, if necessary, to provide irrigation to erstwhile combined Mahabubnagar district with Krishna waters. As long as KCR is the chief minister, we shall not allow injustice to the state in Krishna waters,” KTR said.
He made it clear that there was no question of compromise on Krishna waters and the state would fight for securing its legitimate water allocation.
“We shall complete the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation scheme on war footing,” the Telangana minister said.
