Firebrand Telangana PCC working president and Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy’s comments against Y S Sharmila, daughter of late chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, has evoked sharp reactions from her followers on Monday.
Sharmila’s close follower Tudi Devender Reddy wondered why Revanth was getting panicky with her political entry in Telangana. He strongly condemned his statement that Sharmila was a paid artiste.
Devender said everybody was aware when and why Revanth Reddy had joined the Congress party.
“He is showing sudden love towards YSR, who was the Congress chief minister. People have not forgotten how Revanth, when he was in the TDP, had made strong comments against YSR,” he said.
Stating that the Congress party’s days in Telangana were numbered, Devender said it was ridiculous that Revanth was trying to capitalise on YSR’s image and popularity.
“Sharmila has a lot of clarity on her policies. She doesn’t have to respond to Revanth’s challenges,” he said.
On Sunday, Revanth challenged Sharmila to take up the Telangana cause by standing at Kondareddy Buruju in Kurnool and declare that she would oppose diversion of Krishna water from Srisailam reservoir.
He wondered whether Sharmila would oppose the move of her brother Jagan Mohan Reddy, the present Andhra Pradesh chief minister, in constructing several projects including Pothireddypadu and Sangambanda reservoir illegally.
“If Sharmila has love for Telangana, she should make an open statement that Jagan Mohan Reddy was doing injustice to the people in Telangana and express her readiness to fight against him to save the rights of Telangana people,” he challenged.
