An interesting development took place at the Lotus Pond office of Y S Sharmila, daughter of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, in Hyderabad on Friday.
Mohammad Asaduddin, son of Telangana Congress working president and former Indian cricket captain Mohd Azharuddin, met Sharmila, along with his wife Anam Mirza, sister of tennis superstar Sania Mirza.
The couple presented bouquets to Sharmila and held discussions with her for some time, after posing for photographs by the media.
Though both Asad and Anam made it clear that it was just a courtesy call and there was no political significance to their meeting, it led to a lot of speculations in the media.
And there is a reason for these speculations. Azhar’s family has absolutely no connections with YSR family and even when YSR was the chief minister Azhar did not evince any interest in politics.
It was only after Kiran Kumar Reddy became the chief minister, Azhar came into the Congress party because both were colleagues in Ranji cricket team in the past. Yet, Azhar has been maintaining a very low profile in the party.
And of late, Azhar has been maintaining close relations with the TRS leaders. Recently, he even took part in cricket tournaments organised on the occasion of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s birthday.
Thirdly, Azhar’s son was never seen in any political meetings and so did Sania Mirza family. So, naturally, when Asad and Anam met Sharmila, who is all set to launch a political party now, it naturally evoked suspicions.
Maybe, they are looking for some partnership with Sharmila in any business venture, if not politics!
