The inflammatory comments made by Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) floor leader in Telangana assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi at a public rally in Karimnagar a couple of days ago warning the Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), evoked sharp reaction from the BJP leaders.
In a video statement, BJP official spokesman K Krishnasagar Rao accused Akbaruddin of disturbing peaceful atmosphere in Telangana by making provocative statements against majority Hindus.
At a gathering in Karimnagar on Tuesday night, Akbaruddin recalled his statement that he had made in Hyderabad in 2013 that he would balance the Hindu-Muslim population if the police forces were removed from the area for just 15 minutes.
He said people scare those who get scared easily, but they are scared of those who know how to scare them.
“There is no need to be afraid of the RSS. Nobody from RSS can touch us. Why does the RSS hate Akbaruddin Owaisi? It is because they haven’t recovered from the 15-minute blow yet,” he said.
Krishnasagar Rao wondered whom Owaisi was threatening.
“Why is he speaking in such a language? What is the provocation? What is his agenda?” he asked.
He said the BJP would bring the MIM leader’s comments to the notice of Union home minister Amit Shah, seeking stringent action against him.
BJP MP from Karimnagar Bandi Sanjay, who lodged a complaint with Union minister of state for home G Kishan Reddy in New Delhi, also warned Owaisi against provoking the Hindus.
“If you talk about 15 minutes, we will have to talk in terms of 15 seconds,” he said.
