Remember Sureedu, the ubiquitous character seen behind former chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy wherever the latter went?
The man in his Safari suit was mistaken by most as YSR’s security man, but that was how Sureedu gained prominence when the great leader was alive. After the death of YSR in a helicopter crash, Sureedu went into oblivion.
There were reports that Sureedu tried to get into the YSR Congress party fold later, but somehow party president and present chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy did not entertain him. Subsequently, Sureedu disappeared into oblivion.
But on Tuesday night, Sureedu made a surprising appearance at the public meeting of Telangana Congress working president and Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy at Raviryala, where his 130-km long padayatra concluded.
So, naturally Sureedu caught the attention of the media, which started making enquiries as to what he was doing there. He just greeted Revanth Reddy and posed for photographs, before stepping down from the dais.
Sureedu could not be traced by the media later, but it led to the talk as to whether he wants to enter politics by joining hands with Revanth Reddy. It is also not clear as to how he became close to Revanth Reddy.
A Telangana Congress leader who attended the rally said nobody knew what Sureedu was doing all these days, but his entry would not add any value to either Congress or Revanth.
“In any case, let us see what Sureedu is expecting from Revanth,” he said.
