Several internal survey reports commissioned by BRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao are being 'leaked' to the media, revealing that the sitting BRS MLAs in approximately 50 constituencies are facing severe anti-incumbency.
Among them, 20 to 25 sitting BRS MLAs have no chance of winning in the upcoming Assembly polls scheduled for December this year.
The subject of heated debate in political circles is what these survey reports say about ministers K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao, the 'big shots' of BRS and the son and nephew of KCR, respectively.
Harish and KTR hold the record of never facing defeat in their political careers. Harish Rao has won six consecutive times as MLA from Siddipet since 2004, including general elections and by-elections.
KTR, on the other hand, has won five consecutive times as MLA from Siricilla since 2008, including general elections and bypolls. In fact, Harish and KTR hold the record for securing the highest majority in the 2018 Assembly polls.
Harish topped the state by securing the highest majority of 1,18,699 votes, while KTR stood at No. 3 with a massive majority of 88,886 votes. It should be noted that KTR won with a margin of just 171 votes in the first election he contested from Siricilla in a bypoll in 2008.
Even the CM could not secure such a massive majority in his Gajwel constituency in 2018, from where he won with a majority of 58,290.
In an era of tough politics when Lok Sabha candidates struggle to win with a margin of 10,000 votes, Harish and KTR won with a landslide majority in their respective Assembly constituencies.
However, the buzz in BRS party circles is that the latest internal survey reports indicate that the majorities of Harish and KTR will come down significantly this time, although they do not face any threat of losing the election.
They say that Harish and KTR were also impacted by anti-incumbency against the BRS government, which has been in power for the last ten years.
