Uttam Quits, Revanth New TPCC Chief?

Uttam Quits, Revanth New TPCC Chief?

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday announced his resignation from the post owning moral responsibility for the defeat of the party in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections.

The Congress got just two seats and suffered humiliation in all other divisions. The party has not been able to impress the people of Hyderabad in any manner.

Uttam said he had written a letter to All India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi requesting her to accept his resignation and appoint a new PCC chief immediately in the best interest of the party.

Within minutes, there were speculations in the Congress camp that PCC working president and Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy would be appointed as the PCC chief by tonight itself. However, there was no such communication from Delhi yet.

Revanth Reddy was the only leader who perhaps put in a lot of hard work in the GHMC elections. In fact, the two seats that Congress had won – one on A S Rao Nagar and another in Uppal, fall under Malkajgiri, represented by Revanth.

So, naturally, he would stake claim for the PCC chief post. It remains to be seen how the other seniors, particularly BC and SC leaders will take his appointment, if it is correct.
