It looks like the politicians in Uttar Pradesh are trying to dictate the caste politics in Telangana to make an impact on the prospects of the existing regional parties in the state.
The other day, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president and former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Mayawati announced that senior IPS officer from Telangana R S Praveen Kumar, who took voluntary retirement from the government service for the uplift of Dalit communities, would join the BSP soon.
Soon, Praveen Kumar announced that he would be joining the BSP at a huge public meeting to be held on August 8 at Nalgonda.
He had reportedly met Mayawati a couple of months ago and struck a deal with her.
Apparently, Praveen Kumar has agreed to the proposal of Mayawait to head the BSP unit in Telangana and strengthen the party at all levels.
Thus, he would be the envoy of Mayawati to expand the BSP network in the state.
With Mayawati initiating the moves to gain a foothold in Telangana, her rival and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has also started poking his nose into the Telangana politics.
On Thursday, Akhilesh Yadav expressed his intentions to step into the Telangana politics by consolidating all the Other Backward Class (OBC) groups.
He made this statement after meeting All India BC Welfare Association president R Krishnaiah in New Delhi.
He told Krishnaiah to launch a new political party exclusively for OBCs in Telangana and also in Andhra Pradesh, where there is a sizeable BC population.
“There is a strong need for launching a new political organisation for the OBCs,” he asserted.
Akhilesh offered to extend all his support to the new BC party, if launched by Krishnaiah.
Otherwise, he could join the SP and strengthen the party with the support of BC communities in the Telugu states.
What a strategy!
