Telangana Rashtra Samithi members from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha boycotted the joint address of Parliament by President of India Ramnath Kovind on the first day of the budget session that commenced on Monday.
The TRS MP, who attended the parliamentary party meeting chaired by chief minister and party president K Chandrasekhar Rao at Pragathi Bhavan on Sunday night, stayed back in Hyderabad on Monday morning.
They decided to stay away from the Presidential address to Parliament in protest against the injustice being meted out to the state by the Centre in various projects and release of funds.
According to party sources, the MPs would be leaving for New Delhi in the evening to attend the presentation of the budget by finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman on Tuesday.
At the Saturday’s meeting, KCR explained the strategy to be adopted by the MPs during the budget session of the Parliament. He asked the MPs to step up their fight against the Centre for ignoring the just demands of Telangana.
He asserted that the voice of Telangana should be heard loud and clear in Parliament. He asked the MP to raise the issues of paddy procurement and anti-farmer policies of the Centre in the parliament.
The MPs would also raise issues like sale of public sector undertakings (PSUs), non-fulfilment of promises made to Telangana since the State formation and pending funds from the Centre including the GST dues.
Sources said Chandrashekhar Rao handed over a list of 23 pending issues pertaining to the State, to all the TRS MPs including nine Lok sabha members and five Rajya Sabha members.
He also asked them to join hands with the Opposition parties on issues of mutual interest including the fight against the sale of public sector undertakings. He wanted them to vehemently oppose any such measures by the Centre.
