Senior Congress leader and former Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao has a penchant for publicity. He looks for every occasion to be in the news, though he has little activity to do in the party.
Since nobody takes him seriously in the party, Hanumantha Rao takes up his own programmes and gets into news with his gimmicks.
On Tuesday, Hanumantha Rao violated the lockdown restrictions imposed in the state in the wake of Coronavirus scare and reached the Tank Bund to garland the Dr B R Ambedkar statue on the occasion of the latter’s birth anniversary.
The Saifabad police, in view of the Covid-19 pandemic had advised people not to come to Tank Bund on Ambedkar Jayanthi to ensure their safety and of others.
But VH wanted publicity. He, along with his followers, came there to garland statue and raised slogans. He alleged that the police had arrested him at Punjagutta a few months ago, when he tried to erect the Ambedkar statue in front of Hyderabad Central.
A case was registered against Hanumanth Rao for violating the lockdown conditions and coming out on the road. He was booked under various Sections of IPC and other laws.
