Even as YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy prefers to maintain restraint over disputes with Telangana on Krishna waters sharing, Telangana ministers continue to put up an aggressive posture and provoke the neighbouring state.
It was the turn of Telangana power minister Gunthakandla Jagadish Reddy to make such provocative comments against Jagan and his government, for adopting a resolution at the state cabinet meeting opposing hydel power generation at Srisailam and Pulichintala projects.
“If Andhra Pradesh government thinks it can decide what Telangana should do by passing resolutions in the cabinet, we cannot keep quiet. It should know its limits and remember that Telangana is being ruled by KCR and not an ordinary person,” Reddy said.
Stating that generation of electricity at Srisailam was the right of Telangana, minister said no committee or commission had the right to stop it.
“During the combined Andhra Pradesh, the then governments constructed projects indiscriminately without any operational rules. Even now, Andhra Pradesh wants to construct projects as if Telangana people are innocent and ignorant,” he criticised.
He found fault with Jagan for wasting a golden opportunity provided by KCR.
“Our chief minister explained in detail how both the states could harness the waters of Godavari and Krishna for the maximum benefit of both the states without the intervention of the Centre. He proved how Telangana had entered into an agreement with Maharashtra on Kaleshwaram project. That sense of wisdom is lacking in Andhra rulers,” the Telangana minister said.
He reiterated that the Jagan government was trying to loot Krishna water in a stealthy manner.
“It is behaving in an adamant manner in going ahead with Rayalaseema lift scheme and is trying to blame the Telangana,” he critcisied.
