It appears the Congress party in Telangana is very desperate to cash in on the recent developments in the Telangana Rasthra Samithi following the sacking of senior leader Eatala Rajender from the state cabinet led by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
For the last one week, the Congress party leaders have been making attempts to pamper Eatala by expressing their solidarity with him.
Besides, one leader after the other has started meeting Eatala personally to discuss the strategy to put up a strong force against the TRS in the state.
Pradesh Congress Committee working president A Revanth Reddy is said to be in constant touch with Eatala and has taken up the latter’s cause to expose the encroachments by other TRS leaders in Devara Yamzal endowment lands.
He is said to be of the view that Eatala’s entry into the Congress would strengthen the base of the party among the Backward Classes.
Other BC leaders of the Congress like V Hanumanth Rao and G Niranjan have also extended their support to Eatala.
On Friday, senior Congress leader and former MLC Ramulu Naik also met Eatala at the latter’s Shamirpet residence and spent over an hour with him.
Apparently, he is learnt to have suggested Eatala to join the Congress to consolidate the BC vote bank.
A day before, former MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, who recently came out of the Congress party, also met Eatala and expressed his support to him.
Konda, however, suggested to Eatala that it was time to take a strong decision to build an alternative to the TRS in the state.
Eatala has not yet made up his mind as to what he should do next and he has kept his cards close to his chest in this regard. A section of media says he has developed cold feet and sent feelers to the TRS leadership for a compromise.
Another section says Eatala is contemplating floating a new political party and is discussing his plans with his close associates.
“It will take another week to know what is there in Eatala’s mind,” a media analyst said.
