The super-rich community in Telangana is close to hitting a century, with just five individuals shy of the 100 mark, as per a wealth report released on Monday.
According to Hurun India’s wealth report, Hyderabad boasts 94 individuals, each possessing a wealth exceeding Rs 1,000 crore. One person hails from Khammam.
Topping the list of wealthiest individuals in the state is Murali Divi, the promoter of drug-maker Divi’s Labs, with a staggering personal wealth of Rs 55,700 crore. He is closely followed by P. Pitchi Reddy of Megha Engineering (Rs 37,300 crore), P.V. Krishna Reddy (Rs 35,800 crore), B. Parthasaradhi Reddy (Rs 21,900 crore), and Rameswar Rao Jupally (Rs 17,500 crore).
The cumulative wealth of Telangana's top 95 richest people amounts to Rs 4,98,000 crore. Among them, the top five account for a significant one-third of this wealth, totaling Rs 1,68,200 crore, leaving the remaining 89 individuals with a combined wealth of Rs 3,29,800 crore.
Interestingly, despite Hyderabad’s reputation as an IT hub, it's the pharmaceutical sector that has contributed significantly to the wealth of the super-rich. Among the 95 affluent individuals, 23 are founders of drug manufacturing companies, boasting a combined wealth of Rs 1,88,600 crore.
The second-largest group of super-rich individuals comes from sectors related to construction and real estate. There are 20 super-rich individuals from the construction, cement, and real estate sectors, with a combined net worth of Rs 1,59,000 crore.
In the healthcare sector, six individuals have amassed substantial wealth, amounting to Rs 25,700 crore. Additionally, there are 17 super-rich individuals in industrial manufacturing-related sectors, possessing a combined wealth of Rs 39,700 crore.
Surprisingly, the information technology sector, despite being the largest employer in the city and earning global recognition for Hyderabad, has only seven super-rich individuals, with a combined wealth of Rs 21,500 crore.
