Senior Congress leader and Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has at last made it clear that he would extend all support to newly-appointed president of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee A Revanth Reddy and would work with the latter to bring the party to power in the state.
Komatireddy told reporters that he had an interaction with Revanth, also an MP from Malkajgiri parliamentary constituency, in the corridors of Parliament recently and discussed the party affairs in Telangana.
“I extended all my support to Revanth and I have no qualms in working with him. I only told him to take all the senior Congress leaders into confidence and respect them, instead of running after the Telugu Desam Party leaders and bringing them into the Congress,” he said.
It may be mentioned that Komatireddy was terribly upset with the party high command ignoring his candidature for the PCC chief post and instead, choosing Revanth Reddy.
He even vowed not to step into Gandhi Bhavan in future as a mark of protest.
“It is true that I was disappointed with the high command for ignoring a senior leader like me. In fact, I am much senior to even K Jana Reddy in the Congress. But the party high command gave the PCC chief post to a junior leader,” Komatireddy said.
He, however, assured that he would work with the Congress team under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and strive to bring the party to power in the next elections.
The Bhongir MP, however, declared that he would not contest the next elections, if the TRS government paid Rs 10 lakh each to the families of SCs and STs on the lines of Dalit Bandhu schemes, besides releasing funds for all the development works and pending projects in the Bhongir parliamentary constituency.
