The Lotus Pond office of Y S Sharmila, daughter of former chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, which was buzzing with activity till a few days ago with leaders and cadre of her proposed new political party in Telangana, has now been locked.
Though Sharmila has cut down her activity after her massive public meeting at Khammam on April 9, followed by three-day fasting for the unemployed youth, in the wake of second wave of Covid-19, she used to get regular visitors to her party office at Lotus Pond in Banjara Hills in Hyderabad.
For the last four days, Sharmila has not been coming to the party office because of lockdown imposed by the Telangana government. As a result, the office has been closed completely and locked.
Apparently, Sharmila took the decision following suggestions that if she continued to meet people, it would lead to spread of Corona.
“Most of those who come to meet her do not follow the basic protocol of Covid-19 like wearing of masks and maintaining social distance. Since it might lead to spreading of the virus, she was advised to close down the office,” sources said.
However, Sharmila has started using her social media platform Twitter to target the Telangana government of late, after going into oblivion. She wants to sustain the tempo till July 8, when she would announce the launch of the new party.
She might take up the padayatra immediately, subject to the Covid-19 situation prevailing at that time, sources close to her said.
