YSR Telangana party president Y S Sharmila, who has been desperately trying to prove her party’s existence in Telangana with a series of programmes in support of the unemployed youth, is all set to storm the bastion of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday.
Sharmila will take up a one-day hunger strike at Gundannapalli village of Gajwel assembly constituency represented by KCR in Siddipet district.
She will sit on the “deeksha” from morning to evening, demanding issuance of notification for filling up of vacancies in various government departments.
She started her campaign for the cause of the unemployed youth with her 72-hour long deeksha in Hyderabad in May. Subsequently, she decided to take up 12-hour long deeksha every Tuesday in one district after the other.
The first such deeksha was taken up at Tadiparthi village in Wanaparthy district on July 13.
Later, she took up similar hunger strikes in Karimnagar, Khammam, Mahabubabad districts every week, after calling on the families of those unemployed youth who had committed suicide in distress.
Sharmila has been demanding that the government fill up 1.90 lakh vacancies in various departments of Telangana government as pointed out by the C R Biswal committee and issue job notification immediately.
The deeksha at Gajwel on Tuesday assumes significance as it is the bastion of KCR and a stronghold of his nephew, finance minister T Harish Rao. Sharmila is expected to trigger fireworks at KCR during her deeksha.
Party sources said the Gajwel deeksha would be a turning point in Sharmila’s political journey. Efforts are on to mobilise huge crowds for her meeting. Since KCR has a huge following in Gajwel, it remains to be seen how far her meeting would be a success.
