Y S Sharmila, daughter of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, is focussing on attracting on womenfolk and youth instead of traditional caste-based voters into her party.
According to sources close to her, Sharmila is working out strategies which are different from other traditional parties.
“She will come up with plans and programmes that attract women and youth. She is sure to get massive response from these sections,” the sources said.
Apparently Sharmila is of the view that she, being a woman, has more advantages than the other male-dominated parties.
“The political rivals, too, will think twice before attacking her personally, because she is a woman. She wants to emerge as another Mayawati or Mamata Banerjee or for that matter, Jayalalithaa,” a leader said.
In all probability, Sharmila will launch her party in the last week of April or first week of May. Though it was suggested that she can launch the party on July 8, coinciding with the birthday of her father YSR, she felt it would be too late.
“The ongoing district-wise Atmeeya Sammelanams will conclude in April. We shall decide the future course of action only after that,” Sharmila’s associate Konda Raghava Reddy said.
In all probability, she might launch the party on May 14, the day when YSR took oath as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh for the first time.
She might announce her “padayatra” from Chevella soon after the launch of the party, sources said.
