It is now official. The name of the new regional party – YSR Telangana Party – registered with Election Commission of India recently belongs to Y S Sharmila, daughter of former chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.
This was announced by Sharmila’s close aide Vaduka Rajagopal, who has registered the party with the ECI a couple of months ago.
Though there were reports about the EC registering the party, nowhere it was mentioned that it belonged to Sharmila and even Rajagopal did not give any clarification.
On Monday, however, Rajagopal issued a statement saying Sharmila is planning to float YSR Telangana party to bring back the glorious days of late YSR and take his welfare schemes to every doorstep of the common man.
He said all the works related to registration of YSR Telangana party with the ECI were completed.
“Even Y S Vijayamma, widow of YSR, has given her no-objection letter to the ECI stating that she had no objection over the usage of her husband’s name in the party,” Rajagopal said.
So far, there have been no objections from anywhere to the EC over the registration of YSR Telangana Party.
“We hope the registration process is completed. More details would be announced once we get official letter from the ECI approving the party name,” he added.
Rajagopal further announced that the new political party would be launched officially on July 8, coinciding with the birth anniversary of late YSR.
All arrangements have been made so far and the action programme is being finalised, he added.
