For the last few weeks, YSR Telangana Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister Y S Sharmila, has been facing allegations of being hand in glove with the Bharatiya Janata Party in targeting Bharat Rashtra Samithi led by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
The BRS leaders have been accusing her of being a mole of the BJP, as she had been not critical of the BJP and the policies of Narendra Modi.
In fact, the BRS stepped up the attack on Sharmila after Modi called her up and expressed her sympathies for being ill-treated by the Telangana police.
They have been calling her an arrow left by the BJP aimed at KCR. Though Sharmila has denied it and said Modi’s call to her was her personal issue, she could not vehemently deny her links with the BJP.
However, on Friday, Sharmila changed her tactics. She tried to turn the tables on the BRS and the BJP, saying both were in hand in glove with each other to hoodwink the people of the state.
She recalled the statements of the BJP leaders against KCR and the BRS – Modi described KCR as a corrupt to the core; Union home minister Amit Shah described KCR as the most corrupt politician in the country; BJP organising secretary B L Santosh said Telangana had become an ATM for KCR.
Similarly, Union minister G Kishan Reddy threatened to expose KCR’s corruption and state BJP president vowed to throw KCR behind the bars.
“BJP leaders make tall claims with regard to taking action against KCR. But there is hardly any action. From Delhi to gully, the BJP leaders are confined only to talk but no action. Though KCR’s corruption is glaringly evident, the BJP leadership will never take any action,” she alleged.
Sharmila said: “It is like you act like beating me; and I act like crying. This is the BJP-BRS drama. The BJP has no guts to take any action against KCR or BRS.”
She pointed out that she had submitted tons of pages of evidence to the Centre on the corruption in Kaleshwaram irrigation project.
“KCR had borrowed crores of rupees from central funding agencies and swindled huge money in it. Yet, BJP won’t order any inquiry into it,” she alleged.
She wondered why the BJP, which had demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged poaching of BRS MLAs, had not made similar demand on KCR’s corruption.
“Maybe, the BJP leaders have a share in KCR’s looted booty,” she alleged.
