Senior Congress leader and former Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao has accused Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of being the mastermind behind the new regional party being floated by Y S Sharmila.
Sharmila, daughter of former chief minister late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, is all set to announce her new political party in Telangana at her massive public meeting in Khammam on Friday evening.
“What is Sharmila’s locus standi in Telangana? She has no other eligibility except that she is the daughter of late YSR. How can she alone dare launch a political party? Definitely, she has the backing of the TRS leadership to split the Andhra vote bank in Telangana,” VH said.
The fact that the TRS government has allowed Sharmila to take out such a huge rally and hold a massive public meeting at Khammam with one lakh people, caring a damn for the Covid-19 restrictions, clearly showed that she has the backing of KCR, he said.
“When the Congress leaders want to hold road shows or visit any village to call on people, the police will create a number of hurdles and do not give permissions on the pretext of Coronavirus. How could they give permission to Sharmila to take out rallies and hold meetings?” the senior Congress leader asked.
He alleged that the TRS and the BJP were indirectly supporting Sharmila, as they do not want any other opposition in the Telugu states.
“YSR’s wife Vijayamma wants her son Jagan to dominate Andhra and daughter Sharmila to rule over Telangana,” he criticised.
