With the Congress party losing its ground Telangana very fast due to large scale migration of its leaders to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and a few others to the Bharatiya Janata Party, senior party leaders have plunged into action to save the party.
A few senior leaders of the party like Marri Shashidhar Reddy, Kodanda Reddy and Sambhani Chandrasekhar who are hard core loyalists to Sonia Gandhi family held a meeting in Hyderabad a couple of days back to work out a solution to step the rot in the party.
The leaders suggested to the high command to disband the entire Pradesh Congress Committee existing at present and overhaul it from top to bottom.
While the PCC should be led by young and dynamic leaders, seniors would form into a sort of “Margadarshak mandal” (advisory council) who would guide them in all aspects.
They also reportedly suggested serious action programmes and field struggles on every issue so as to bring pressure on the TRS government.
At the same time, the party leadership should make efforts to see that the young leaders do not go towards the BJP.
“There is a need to take serious steps to strengthen the party at this juncture. We shall have wider consultation with other loyalists to form a Congress Loyalists Forum to work in this direction to take on the TRS and BJP,” a senior Congress leader said.
