Scribes to test their fortunes in MLC polls!

Scribes to test their fortunes in MLC polls!

At a time when politics is often seen as a lucrative profession to make some quick bucks, no wonder some ambitious journalists are also planning to enter the fray to contest the elections, taking advantage of their political connections over years.

But not all MLCs made big money. Veteran journalist Syed Amin Jafri, who had worked with Eenadu group and Deccan Chronicle and Reuters for decades, has been MLC for over a decade on behalf of the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) for which he was a sort of advisor.

Osmania University journalism professor K Nageshwar, who had been the editor of Hans India for a couple of years, too, had been MLC for two terms in the past.

He is trying his luck once again in the forthcoming MLC elections under graduates’ quota from Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy-Mahbubnagar constituency.

Similarly, another half-a-dozen journalists are said to be in the race for the MLC elections from graduates’ constituency.

Former television news anchor and Yuva Telangana Party working president Gogula Ranirudrama Reddy of Narsampet is contesting the MLC elections from Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam graduates’ constituency. She has already launched her campaign.

Another journalist B Jayasarthi Reddy, who has the CPI background, is also in the fray from the same constituency.

Similarly, T-News bureau chief P V Srinivasa Rao is trying for a ticket from the TRS and senior journalist Donthu Ramesh of Mahabubabad is aspiring for a Congress ticket from the same constituency,

Another popular journalist Chintapandu Naveen Kumar alias ‘Teenmaar Mallanna’ is also trying to contest from the same constituency. He is also reportedly seeking the support from the Congress.

So, it is going to a war among journalists!
