Bharat Rashtra Samith working president and former minister K T Rama Rao, who has been named as A-1 in the alleged financial irregularities in the conduct of Formula-E race by the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Telangana police, chief minister A Revanth Reddy sought to fix him in another case.
The chief minister announced in the state assembly that his government would constitute a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the alleged irregularities in the lease of Hyderabad outer ringer road (ORR) to a private party by the previous BRS government.
The controversy also involves KTR who decided to lease the ORR for 30 years under a 'toll-operate-transfer' model for Rs 7,380 crore to a private firm.
The announcement was made following a challenge made by KTR’s cousin and BRS legislator T Harish Rao seeking cancellation of lease of the ORR deal.
Harish Rao said his party would welcome the SIT probe, but demanded that the government should first cancel the lease agreement with the private firm.
