If reports coming from New Delhi are to be believed, firebrand Congress MP from Malkajgiri and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee working president A Revanth Reddy has been finalised as the PCC chief.
According to these reports, the Congress high command reportedly conveyed the same to another Congress MP and former minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy who has been making intense lobbying in New Delhi for the PCC chief post.
Incidentally, both Komatireddy and Revanth Reddy were in New Delhi on Thursday, along with outgoing PCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy to take part in the Chalo Rashtrapathi Bhavan rally led by Rahul Gandhi to demand withdrawal of agriculture bills.
The reports said Sonia Gandhi had given the nod for the appointment of Revanth Reddy as the PCC chief, because of his ability to draw crowds and his craze among the youth.
Even Rahul Gandhi, who is likely to take over as the party chief shortly, also favoured Revanth Reddy.
The report submitted by AICC in-charge of Telangana affairs Manickam Tagore, too, indicated that majority leaders favoured Revanth Reddy, it is learnt.
However, Sonia has reportedly assured Komatireddy that he would be given due recognition in the party.
In all probability, he might be inducted into the Congress Working Committee, the highest policy making body of the party, from Telangana, which has no representation in the CWC so far.
If the reports are to be believed, an announcement on the new PCC chief would be made in a day or two.
However, the high command has clearly told Revanth Reddy to take the responsibility of taking all the seniors into confidence and not to take any unilateral decisions.
