In Telangana, Reddy community was identified with Congress since generations. But the Reddy community in Telangana has lost its political hold over the past few years.
The Congress too has become a 'damp squib' in Telangana due to consecutive electoral defeats since 2014 at the hands of TRS and largescale defections of its leaders into TRS.
With this, Reddy community in Telangana came to a firm opinion that they cannot achieve power through Congress or defeat KCR through Congress and are looking for a fresh alternative to regain power and oust KCR.
The BJP is learnt to have offered a better platform for Reddy community in Telangana to fight against KCR and regain power.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah are learnt to have given an assurance to Reddy community that BJP will stood behind Reddys and extend all the required support in their fight against KCR.
This seems to be fetching results for BJP in the Lok Sabha polls itself.
Noted leaders from Reddy community namely DK Aruna (Congress), AP Jithender Reddy (TRS), Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy (Congress) have joined BJP within a gap of one week and working for BJP's victory.
Few more top Reddy leaders are expected to join BJP after Lok Sabha polls.
The BJP has been targeting 2023 Assembly polls in Telangana by inducting strong leaders from Reddy community to take on TRS as it feels that Congress has lost its ground completely in Telangana and BJP will fill that vacuum by encouraging Reddy leaders to fight against TRS.
