Rebel YSR Congress party parliament member from Narasapuram in West Godavari district Kanumuri Raghurama Krishnam Raju will not be sent back to jail at least till Friday.
The doctors at the Army Hospital in Secunderabad, who have started treating Raju on Tuesday morning, indicated that he would have to stay put in the hospital till May 21, after which the doctors would prepare a report on his health condition and submit the same to the Supreme Court.
The maverick MP, who was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) authorities on Friday last on charges of sedition, was brought to the Army Hospital in Secunderabad late on Monday night, following the directions from the Supreme Court.
The treatment to his wounds which, he had claimed, were the result of physical assault by the CID police, is going on at the Army Hospital under the supervision of judicial officer Nagarjuna, appointed by Telangana high court.
A three-member team of doctors are examining his wounds both external and internal at VIP room in the hospital. The entire exercise is being videographed by the doctors. They enquired about his inability to walk and are recording his statements.
They are giving him painkillers for treating the inflammation on his right leg.
“The treatment will go on till March 21. Till such time, he cannot be sent back to jail,” sources said.
