The latest revelations in the confession statement of former DCP Radha Kishan Rao in the telephone tapping case during the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) regime appear to have done more harm than good to the Revanth Reddy government, turning out to be a blessing in disguise for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In his statement before the investigating officers, Radha Kishan Rao confessed that he and his team had resorted to tapping telephones to implicate the BJP in the MLAs’ poaching case in 2022, acting on orders from the then chief minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR).
The BJP stated that this confession vindicated its allegations that KCR was the architect and director of the BRS MLAs’ poaching case involving Tandur ex-MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy.
“It was obvious that KCR had hatched a conspiracy to tarnish the image of the BJP and implicated senior party functionary B L Santosh in the case,” BJP spokesman N V Subhash said.
Subhash highlighted that the ex-DCP had confessed that KCR sought a compromise with the BJP to bail out his MLC daughter, K Kavitha, in the infamous Delhi liquor scam case. Kavitha is now under judicial custody.
Subhash accused the former BRS government, led by KCR, of misusing police officials to target political rivals by tapping their phones for political gain. He demanded that the state Congress government take action against former CM KCR.
He also questioned why Revanth Reddy had not arrested KCR despite the former cop’s revelations exposing the BRS president’s role in the telephone tapping case.
“It clearly shows the nexus between the BRS and the Congress,” the BJP leader said.
