Telangana government has been facing a big headache due to growing number of positive cases for coronavirus in the last few days.
Despite the claims being made by the officials that all the foreign returnees and also those who had attended Tablighi Jamaat meeting had been traced and sent to quarantine, the number of positive cases continue to rise with every passing day.
The officials are now suspecting that several Coronavirus positive patients are not turning up to the hospitals for treatment and are resorting to self-medication for getting treatment for cough, cold and sore throat, instead of getting themselves tested for Corona virus.
As a result, the Telangana health authorities have now come up with a new plan of action. The government has issued orders bringing all the medical shops in the state under fever surveillance limits.
Accordingly, the medical shops have to note down the details of anybody who purchases medicines for fever, sore throat, cold and cough and immediately pass on the information to the authorities.
Within no time, the authorities keep a surveillance on these patients and if they reported severe symptoms, they would be shifted to hospitals to get them tested for Coronavirus.
The government also gave strict instructions to commissioners of all the municipalities and corporations to coordinate with the medical shops in their jurisdictions and gather the details of those who purchase medicines for Covid-19 related symptoms.
The government directed that drug inspectors of various districts, too, to hold discussions with the pharmacy association members in this regard.
