Telangana Director General of Police Mahender Reddy on Thursday dismissed the allegations made by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president A Revanth Reddy that he was forced to go on leave by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
In a statement, Reddy clarified that he was availing medical leave since February 18 after suffering hairline fractures in scapula bone.
“I suffered injuries after falling at my house and the doctors confirmed three fractures after examining the x-ray, CT scan and MRI reports. Since doctors advised ample rest for curing the fractures, I am availing of medical leave from February 18 to March 4,” he said.
Stating that he would be joining the duty as per the advice of doctors, Mahendar Reddy said he was taking medicines and undergoing physiotherapy and other exercises following advice from the doctors.
He took strong exception to Revanth Reddy’s remarks that the state government forcibly sent him on leave.
“It’s not proper on the part of Revanth Reddy, who is heading the State unit of a national party, to make false statements without verifying the facts,” he said.
Reddy condemned Revanth’s attempt to use the police officers names for deriving political advantage. These false statements would demoralize the confidence of the police department, he said.
He requested Revanth Reddy to maintain restraint before making any statements against the senior all India services officers and other officials.
