No relief for KTR in SC, as ACB grills him

Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president and former Telangana minister K T Rama Rao, who has desperately tried to avoid appearing before the Anti-Corruption Bureau authorities for questioning in the Formula-E car race case, faced a disappointment in the Supreme Court.

A Supreme Court bench headed by chief justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna refused KTR’s plea for an urgent hearing of his special leave petition challenging the recent high court verdict on the Formula-E case.

Justice Khanna declined to take up KTR's petition to quash the Formula-E car race case for hearing and said he will hear it on January 15.

He felt that there is no need to consider the petition so urgently before scheduled date and said he would hear the same only on January 15.

As a result, KTR was forced to appear before the ACB authorities on Thursday. He reached the ACB office at 10:10 AM, accompanied by legal advisor Ramachandra Rao.

Investigating officer DSP Majid Khan is questioning KTR, with joint director Rithiraj supervising the inquiry. KTR’s legal counsel was allowed to observe the proceedings from a separate room.

ACB officials are interrogating KTR based on directives issued by Arvind Kumar regarding the organization of the Formula-E race.

They are reportedly investigating KTR’s role in the agreement, the cash payments to a foreign company, and the statements recorded from Arvind Kumar.
