No benefit shows, Revanth tells Tollywood

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy held a crucial meeting with key representatives from the Telugu film industry, addressing significant issues concerning the sector and outlining the government's expectations and support.

According to sources who are privy to the information about the meeting, the chief minister emphasized that the government will stick to its statement made in the state assembly about its decision not to give permission benefit shows or premieres of any film hereafter.

The recent tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre was addressed, with Revanth Reddy expressing deep regret and promising strict measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.

He, however, did not raise the issue of increasing in ticket fares or additional screenings in the first three days. He made it clear that there will be no compromise on law and order.

The chief minister also warned that the government will take strict action against bouncers creating disturbances. “Celebrities must take responsibility for controlling fan behaviour,” he said.

Revanth Reddy, however, assured the film industry of the government's unwavering support, as was done by his predecessors. He said the industry must contribute to Telangana's growth with a sense of social responsibility.

He appealed to the celebrities to actively participate in women's safety initiatives, besides promotion of temple tourism and eco-tourism and cooperating with the government in attracting investments.

He further suggested that the film actors should participate in the caste census awareness campaigns. Celebrities must cooperate in anti-drug campaigns and substance abuse awareness. Heroes and heroines should actively participate in anti-drug outreach programs. Anti-drug awareness videos must be played in theatres before movie screenings.

Veteran director K Raghavendra Rao praised the government's support and welcomed Dil Raju's appointment as FDC Chairman. He highlighted Telangana's potential as a tourist destination and urged the government to host an International Film Festival in Hyderabad.

Actor and producer Nagarjuna emphasized the need for a world-class studio setup in Hyderabad and capital incentives to help the industry grow globally. Producer Suresh Babu expressed faith in the government and shared his vision of making Hyderabad an international film destination.

Director Trivikram recalled the contributions of former leaders in relocating the industry from Chennai to Hyderabad.

Actor Murali Mohan highlighted the intense competition in movie releases and the importance of robust promotional campaigns. Industry leaders stressed the need for collective efforts to elevate Hyderabad to the next level as a global film hub.
