In a dare devil act, TDP chief and former AP CM N Chandra babu Naidu has decided to field TDP candidate for upcoming Huzurnagar bypoll on October 21 in Telangana.
Naidu took this decision to revive TDP in Telangana from Nalgonda district which was once the bastion of TDP.
TDP was part of Congress led grand alliance in Telangana during 2018 Assembly polls.
However TDP could win only two seats in Telangana in Khammam district in 2018 Assembly polls.
Of them TDP MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah already distanced himself from TDP and moving closer to TRS.
Later entire TDP leaders and cadre in TS quit TDP and joined either TRS or BJP.
TDP did not even contest Lok Sabha polls in Telangana in May this year for the first time since its inception in 1982.
In this backdrop, Chandra babu's decision to field TDP candidate in Huzurnagar by poll should be viewed as a dare devil act.
Naidu will announce TDP candidate on Monday.
Naidu believes that there is considerable Andhra population in Nalgonda district and hopes that they will vote for TDP.
Naidu is currently facing toughest period of his political career as TDP has been wiped out in both TS and AP.
Naidu hopes that even if TDP retains deposit in Huzurnagar by poll, it amounts to great victory for TDP and helps him to revive party in both TS and AP.
