Bharatiya Janata Party leadership, which is desperate to retain its identity in Telangana by winning at least a dozen seats in the November 30 assembly elections, has found some hope in Dalit leader Manda Krishna Madiga, founder-president of Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi.
During the recent public meeting addressed at Secunderabad parade grounds, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced categorisation of Scheduled Castes to help the Madiga sub-caste.
He even constituted a task force committee to look into the implementation of categorisation.
Following this, Manda Krishna gave a call to all the Madiga community people to vote for the BJP across the state, irrespective of the winning prospects of the party.
He held a meeting of all the units of his organisation recently and asked them to campaign for the BJP.
Realising his importance, the BJP national leadership, under the directions of the Prime Minister, on Wednesday decided to arrange an exclusive helicopter for Manda Krishna Madiga to tour from place to place in Telangana and campaign for the BJP.
This is for the first time that the BJP has arranged such a facility to a non-BJP activist.
The party hopes that Krishna Madiga would be able to help the Madigas turn their tide in favour of the BJP at least in a few constituencies, if not all.
If it happens, it is going to be a big blow to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, as the BJP is expected to eat into the ruling party votes, rather than the Congress!
