Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president and former Telangana minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) is planning to approach the Supreme Court to challenge the judgement of the state High Court, which dismissed his petition seeking to quash the FIR filed against him in the alleged Formula-E race scam.
Shortly after the High Court delivered its judgement, KTR held discussions with senior party colleagues to determine the future course of action.
It appears he believes that approaching the Supreme Court is the only way to avoid potential arrest by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), which filed the case against him.
KTR reportedly assured party leaders that he would pursue an honest legal fight and make full use of all legal avenues available to him.
He has reportedly decided to retain Supreme Court lawyer Siddharth Dave, who represented him in the High Court, for this case.
Meanwhile, the ACB, which recently issued fresh notices to KTR asking him to appear for questioning on January 9, has intensified its investigation into the case.
On the same day the High Court judgement was delivered, ACB officials conducted raids at the Greenko office in Madhapur.
These raids, which started on Tuesday morning, also extended to Greenko’s subsidiary, Ace Next Gen, as part of the probe into the alleged involvement of electoral bonds in the Formula-E race agreement.
It is worth noting that the Revanth Reddy-led government had earlier revealed that Greenko and its subsidiaries contributed ₹41 crore in electoral bonds to the BRS ahead of the Formula-E agreement.
This included ₹31 crore in April 2022 and ₹10 crore in October 2022. The ACB is actively investigating these transactions.
Concurrent raids were also carried out at the offices of ACE Urban Race and ACE Urban Developers in Machilipatnam as part of the ongoing inquiry.
