KCR vows to forever silence AP on river water row

Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao seems to have decided to go aggressive against the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh over the latest dispute over sharing of Krishna river water.

KCR who held a meeting with irrigation department officials to come out with all the details with comprehensive data on the river water sharing which could be placed before the Central government, so that AP government would be silenced forever.

“Andhra Pradesh state is intentionally creating disputes on the River water sharing. We have to give a befitting reply to the AP State’s arguments at the Apex Council meeting. Give an absolute clarity on issues so that the AP government will not raise the issues again in future,” he said.

He called for a high-level meeting with the Water Resources Department officials at Pragathi Bhavan at 2 pm on Thursday to discuss on the strategy to be adapted at the Apex Council meeting to be held on October 6.

He asked the authorities to expose the seven years delay caused by the Centre and its inactive role on the matter.

“Oppose and reject the attempts made to undermine the rights of Telangana people. Utilise the Apex Council meeting to tell the whole country about the facts,” the CM said.

KCR also attacked the Centre for being silent on the Telangana demand for a revised allocation of water between the two states.

“The Centre has kept mum on the issue. Moreover, they are giving a picture that they were doing something by convening Apex Council meetings. But in reality, the Centre is not doing anything,” he said.

The Telangana CM said he would take the Centre to task in the apex council meeting.

“Let us be firm in demanding that there should be absolute clarity on the allocation of water to the Telangana State,” the CM explained to the officials.
