KCR Trying To Be In Modi's Good Books?

KCR Trying To Be In Modi's Good Books?

Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy came in for a lot of trolling for posting a tweet in the social media criticising his Jharkhand counterpart Hemant Soren for making critical comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi the other day.

Critics charged Jagan with trying to appease Modi with his unsolicited support, apparently in view of the pending cases of Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate against him.

Interestingly, even Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao appears to be making attempts to get into the good books of the Prime Minister, which is in sharp contrast to his earlier anti-Modi stand.

In fact, KCR, who used to make aggressive attacks on Modi till December last, suddenly changed his mind after the defeat of the TRS in Dubbak by-elections and setback in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections.

He told his party leaders that the state was no mood to enter into a confrontation with the Centre. He has been refraining from making any comments against the Centre, despite lack of sufficient help from Delhi.

That KCR has been desperate in pampering Modi was evident from a statement issued by the Telangana chief minister’s office on Sunday night.

It said the Prime Minister had spoken to KCR over phone and appreciated the suggestions given by the latter in improving hospital infrastructure to fight Covid-19.

According to the official press statement, the Prime Minister informed KCR that Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan had briefed him about the suggestions given by the chief minsiter.

“Your suggestions are good; and we will implement them. I thank you for the good suggestions,” the press note quoted Modi as saying to KCR.

It also said the chief minister had urged the Prime Minister to supply more Oxygen and Remdesivir injections to the state. Modi responded positively and assured that immediate action would be taken on the requests.

The Chief Minister also made certain suggestions to the Centre on the steps to be taken to control the spread of the pandemic. He felt that by giving more control to the States, it would be possible to restrict the spread of Covid-19.

The tone and tenor of the press statement indicates that KCR was extremely to get an appreciation from the Prime Minister and he did not mind getting publicity for the same!
