Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is said to be on cloud nine for getting the invitation from Rashtrapathi Bhavan to attend the banquet dinner to be hosted by President of India Ramnath Kovind in the honour of US president Donald Trump, his wife Melania Trump and others on Tuesday night.
According to sources, KCR is considers it as a great honour for getting an opportunity to meet the US president. He is among the very few invitees for the banquet and it is definitely a big acknowledgement of the good work being done in Telangana.
Among the non-NDA governments, only KCR and Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik had got the opportunity to shake hands with the US president. KCR will be leaving for New Delhi on Tuesday morning itself to avoid last minute inconveniences.
Sources said since it is a limited gathering, KCR might get an opportunity to speak to Trump and his family members for a couple of minutes, instead of confining to just wishing and shaking hands. So, the Telangana chief minister will use the chance to present some interesting gifts to Trump and his family members.
The talk is that KCR will present a silver filigree image of Charminar as a memento Trump; similarly, he will present specially made silk sarees from Pochampalli and Gadwal to Melania and Ivanka. Since Ivanka already had liked sarees from Telangana, she would definitely be impressed with the gifts.
What is more, the Telangana CM has already ensured that there are one or two special Telangana dishes in the menu of the dinner to be served to Trump and his official delegation. Particularly, Telangana Natu Kodi Pakodi has been included in the menu, sources said.
KCR is originally scheduled to return to Hyderabad on February 26, but in case he would get an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi the following day, he may stay put in the national capital for a day or two more, sources said.
