For the first time, the Congress government in Telangana led by chief minister A Revanth Reddy is going to face Bharat Rashtra Samithi president and his predecessor K Chandrasekhar Rao in the assembly on Thursday when the budget session will begin.
It will be the first time for KCR, too, to enter the state assembly from the opposition side. Till the other day, there was a talk that he won’t be willing to sit in the opposition benches, but he has decided to come to the House to take on the ruling Congress.
Naturally, the session is expected to witness sparks as the Congress and the BRS are preparing to lock horns over multiple issues.
The BRS is getting ready with all its weapons to corner the Revanth Reddy government on handing over of Krishna Basin irrigation projects and the delay in implementation of election promises.
The already intense exchange of political fire between the Congress and the BRS, there is every possibility of heated arguments between the treasury and opposition benches.
The Revanth Reddy government is getting ready to expose the massive corruption and engineering lapses in the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project.
The budget session is slated to commence at 11.30 am with Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan’s joint address to members of both the Assembly and Council. This will be followed with passage of a motion of thanks to the Governor’s address on Friday.
Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu will present in all probability a vote-on-account budget on Saturday. This will be followed with general discussion on the budget.
Considering the government’s announcement that it would be implementing the six guarantees without fail, provisional budgetary allocations would be a key factor.
With speculation rife over the launch of two more schemes, including the Rs 500 LPG cylinder and 200 units of free power to households, the guidelines to select beneficiaries will be under the scanner.
