It has been quite some time since Bharat Rashtra Samithi president and former Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has made a public appearance.
The last time one has seen him was on July 25 when he came to the state assembly for the first time after losing power to the Congress in the November 30 assembly elections.
He sat in the assembly for a few minutes during the presentation of the annual budget by finance minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and left the House even before the speech was completed.
KCR made some critical remarks speaking to reporters at the media point in the assembly and left. After that, he went into hiding again.
He has been maintaining unusual silence though his party leaders including his son K T Rama Rao and nephew T Harish Rao are taking on the Congress government led by chief minister A Revanth Reddy with their aggressive attacks.
KCR has been confined mostly to his farmhouse at Erravelli village in Siddipet district. He has not been making any public appearances nor is he available to most of the party leaders and cadre, except a few close confidants.
Apparently, the BRS chief has been upset with the defection of several MLAs and senior leaders leaving the party to join the Congress, apart from the prolonged imprisonment of his daughter K Kavitha in Delhi liquor policy scam.
Now that Kavitha has come out of the jail on bail, KCR is understood to have decided to come out of the shell.
According to party leaders, he wants to become once again active in the state politics by launching a movement against the Revanth Reddy government.
As part of his strategy, KCR has called for an extensive party executive committee meeting on September 11 at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad to announce a future course of action for himself and the party.
“Here after, he is going to play active role in the party, leading the cadre from the front to fight against the Revanth Reddy government on various issues of public concern, including denial of Rythu Bandhu and Dalit Bandhu, poor implementation of crop loan waiver scheme, failure of the government in mitigating floods, pensions and demolition of houses by HYDRAA etc,” a party leader said.
According to him, KCR will pay full attention to the party programmes hereafter.
“After the meeting, he is contemplating touring districts, hold conventions of farmers, youth, women and intellectuals,” he said.
Needless to say, KCR’s plan is to rejuvenate the party cadre ahead of the gram panchayat and municipal elections in the state.
If the BRS fails to put up impressive performance in the local body polls, it is difficult to revive the party, sources said.
