Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has a peculiar character. If he doesn’t like a person, he fogs him out of the party and if he wants a person’s help, he will go to any extent to appease him.
On Friday, KCR suddenly decided to go the residence of senior Telugu Desam Party leader and former minister Mandava Venkateshwar Rao, who is from Banswada in Nizamabad district.
Though Mandava has been keeping away from politics, he has considerable clout in the constituency, as he is still continuing in the Telugu Desam Party which still has big cadre base.
So, KCR thought Mandava would be of big help to the TRS at a time when his daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha is facing a tough battle in Nizamabad due to large number of farmers contesting as independents to highlight the issue of remunerative price for turmeric and red jowar crops.
Though Kavitha’s victory is a foregone conclusion, KCR fears that her majority might come down due to independents and he does not want it under any circumstances, since it is a matter of prestige for him as well as the party. That is why, he sought the help of Mandava.
KCR went to Mandava’s residence in the afternoon and had a lengthy chat with him. He convinced Mandava to join the TRS and assured that his political future would be taken care of. Since Mandava was an old friend of KCR, he happily obliged it.
His entry into the TRS in a day or two would certainly solve all the problems for the TRS in the constituency!
