KCR ropes Thackeray into anti-BJP front

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday managed to convince his Maharashtra counterpart Uddhav Thackeray to join hands with the like-minded parties to fight against the anti-people policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

KCR, who had two hours long meeting with Thackeray told the latter that there was a need for unification of like-minded forces to fight against the autocratic rule of the BJP-led union government in the country.

Both the leaders decided to work together in the fight against the divisive forces in the country as well as convene a meeting with like-minded national and regional political parties soon.

KCR and Thackeray discussed on a wide range of issues including national politics, nation’s progress and the condition of the country after 70 years of independence among others.

They agreed with each other on various issues including nation’s development, structural and policy changes at the national level.

Addressing a joint press conference later, KCR said both of them were in touch with leaders of various national and regional political parties which were willing to join forces.

He stated that Hyderabad or any other city will host the conclave of these leaders to further discuss, deliberate and come up with a concrete action plan in the best interests of the country.

“We need a qualitative change in the country. We must strengthen the nation together. The ethos of nation and the youth should remain intact,” he said.

The chief minister said a beginning had been made and an action plan will be decided only after meeting all other participants willing to join the movement.

“Be it Shivaji Maharaj or Bala Saheb Thackeray, all the movements which started from Maharashtra were a big success. We are hopeful that we will succeed too,” he added.

He was critical of the union government misusing the Central agencies against its political opponents and if the BJP continues with the same further, it will have to pay dearly later.

Thackeray said they had been planning this meeting for a long time and it materialised today as a result of the current political environment. He felt that the level of politics had stooped very low.

“We never believed in revenge politics. Our Hindutva is not about taking revenge. If the current state of politics continues, what’s the future of the country. The business or lies and defaming others is not good for this nation,” he said.
