The Congress party might have forgotten former PM P V Narasimha Rao, the only Telugu leader to reach the highest position in the country, but the TRS government led by CM KCR has decided to pay a befitting tribute to the son of the soil on the latter’s birth centenary.
On Thursday, KCR announced that the birth centenary celebrations of P V Narasimha Rao would be held in a big way for one year beginning from June 28, which is PV’s birthday.
KCR said that PV rendered yeoman service as the Prime Minister, Freedom Fighter, Educationist, and Literary figure.
A man with such extraordinary qualities hailed from Telangana is a moment of pride for the State. To recollect, recall the great services rendered by PV in various fields, it is decided to celebrate his centenary celebrations on a grand scale, the CM said.
In this regard, the chief minister appointed a committee under the leadership of Rajya Sabha member K Keshav Rao.
The committee will comprise government’s chief advisor Sri Rajiv Sharma, PV’s son P V Prabhakar Rao and daughter Vani Devi, ministers from Karimnagar Etela Rajender, K T Rama Rao, Official Language Commission chairman Devulapalli Prabhakar Rao, Central Sahitya Academy awardee and noted writer “Ampasayya” Naveen.
KCR asked Keshav Rao to include 6 to 7 members more in the Committee. The first meeting of the Committee will be held at Keshav Rao’s house on Thursday at 2.30 PM.
The CM asked the Committee to get in touch with those who had interaction with PV, people who have an affinity with him, his family members, his well-wishers and his fans and discuss to finalise the centenary celebrations plan with them.
