BRS supremo and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao is known as a shrewd politician and a master political strategist.
No one knows when and why KCR gets closer to a leader or party, or when and why he deserts any leader or party.
Who can forget KCR's claims during the Telangana statehood agitation that he would merge his party TRS with Congress if the UPA government at the Centre, led by Congress, granted statehood to Telangana?
Congress granted Telangana, but KCR did not merge his party with Congress. He not only refrained from merging his party but also finished Congress in Telangana by encouraging defections of Congress MLAs, MLCs, and MPs into TRS.
Now, it seems that the time has come for NCP chief Sharad Pawar to receive a shock from KCR. Everyone knows how Pawar supported TRS and KCR during the Telangana statehood agitation.
In fact, Pawar participated in several public meetings conducted by KCR in Telangana, demanding statehood for Telangana. KCR publicly acknowledged Pawar's support and contribution to the formation of Telangana State.
In February 2022, KCR went to Mumbai and met Sharad Pawar. KCR addressed the media along with Pawar, stating that they would work together for the development of the country.
However, it appears that KCR has changed his stance towards Pawar now, especially after renaming TRS as BRS and intensifying BRS activities in Maharashtra recently. KCR is enticing several NCP leaders and workers in Maharashtra to join his party.
Not only is KCR luring leaders and workers from the NCP, but he is also attracting members of Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) to join BRS, thereby weakening Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), the alliance of NCP, Congress, and Shiv Sena (UBT).
Sharad Pawar has stated that KCR is expanding BRS in Maharashtra to divide anti-BJP votes and benefit the BJP in the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
