Ever since Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter and former Nizamabad MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha has been elected as the legislative council member in October last, there has been a talk that she would be inducted into the state cabinet.
The party leaders openly made a request that she be taken into the state cabinet in the next expansion. There were reports that KCR would reshuffle and expand his cabinet after the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, but it did not happen.
Now that the party leaders are hinting at KCR making his son K T Rama Rao as the chief minister, the talk of Kavitha getting into the state cabinet has once again started in the political circles.
A section of party leaders says that KTR might not take her sister into the cabinet, since he doesn’t entertain two power centres in the government, unlike his father. So, KCR is planning to entrust Kavitha with key responsibilities in the TRS itself.
Sources said if KTR becomes the chief minister, Kavitha would be made the working president of the party and she would be directly reporting to her father in the party activities.
Keeping it in view, KCR is learnt to have asked Kavitha to extensively tour all parts of the state, coordinate with the party leaders and trade unions at present.
However, there is another section which says KCR might make his nephew T Harish Rao as working president and nominate Kavitha to Rajya Sabha in the next term, so that she would play a bigger role at the national level. In any case, Kavitha’s fate would be decided in the next couple of months.
