The Cybercrime police of Hyderabad on Friday arrested actor-turned-film critic and political activist Kathi Mahesh for making unsavoury comments on Lord Rama in the social media.
Acting on a complaint given by several Hindu groups, the police took Kathi Mahesh into custody and booked him under Section 153 A, 505-1 (b) and 505-2 of Indian Penal Code after due enquiry.
He was taken to Osmania Hospital for medical examination and later produced before the Nampally criminal court which sent him to 14-day judicial remand.
Mahesh, known for his bitter criticism against politics, Pawan Kalyan and even Hindu gods. He had once been banished from entering Hyderabad for his controversial comments on Hindu gods.
Very recently, Mahesh has allegedly made some controversial and unsavoury comments on Lord Rama and posted them on his social media account.
This has triggered massive protests from Hindu groups, which lodged a complaint to the Cyberabad police against him.
