Popular television news anchor Jaffer, who recently hit the headlines by quitting the news channel TV9 in a sudden and surprising development, is learnt to have joined another popular news channel TV5.
According to sources, Jaffer was given a prominent position in the channel and entrusted with the task of interviewing prominent personalities which has been his forte. However, he is yet to take the charge and his exact assignment will be known only after that.
Jaffer shot into fame by interviewing over 175 politicians, exposing the ugly side of most of them, had a long stint of 15 years in TV9.
Jaffer has become so popular on screen that he was chosen for Bigg Boss-3, but was eliminated within no time.
He was considered to be a close associate of controversial former chief executive officer of TV9 and showman V Ravi Prakash.
In fact, Jaffer’s exit is also linked to the sacking of Ravi Prakash and it happened within a couple of months of Ravi Prakash’s exit from TV9.
Jaffer said he had resigned from TV9 because he felt he had lost the emotional connect with the channel.
Soon after his resignation, there was a talk that he might join the new channel being planned by Ravi Prakash or start his own digital news media.
But with Ravi Prakash being thrown behind the bars and the proposed channel’s fate hanging in balance, Jaffer had no option but to look for employment that would fetch him sustained income.
After all, he is not a businessman, but a journalist!
